Delhi Government Asks Schools to Implement A New Policy On School Bags …


 

Current news articles beyond my training data cutoff of September 2022. However, I can provide general information about the school bag policies in Delhi.



In recent years, the Delhi government has been taking steps to reduce the weight of school bags and promote a healthy learning environment for students. In 2019, the government issued guidelines to schools to limit the weight of school bags for students in different classes. According to the guidelines, the weight of a school bag for students in Class 1 and 2 should not exceed 1.5 kg, while for students in Class 3 to 6, the weight limit is 2-3.5 kg, and for students in Class 6 to 10, it should not exceed 4.5 kg.

 

In addition to the weight limit, the government has also directed schools to follow a timetable for different subjects and not to assign homework to students of Classes 1 and 2. The schools have also been asked to provide lockers to students to keep their textbooks and other study materials.

 

Overall, the aim of the new school bag policy is to reduce the physical burden on child and promote a healthy learning environment. The policy has been welcomed by parents, teachers, and education dep, and many schools in Delhi have already implemented the guidelines.
